Landscape Workshop

*Sewing machine in good working order & owner’s manual. Your machine
must have feed dog “drop” capability
*Straight stitch, zig zag and free motion /darning feet. Try some free motion
quilting before class
*Long pins, seam ripper and small sharp scissors for fussy cutting
*Metal tweezers for picking up snips – bent style are ideal
*Pinking shears or pinking blade on a rotary cutter
*Free motion quilting gloves “Machingers” or similar are recommended
*Selection of threads – light, medium & dark grey, Gutermann #766 and an
assortment of landscape colours – lighter/darker blues for sky and water,
greens for the grass/vegetation, greys for rocks. Varigated threads are
highly recommended. Bring your collection or start one if you haven’t.

*Steam a Seam II, piece, 3” x 13”
*Quilt batt (Hobbs 80-20 recommended) piece, 13” x 13”
*505 Quilt Spray
* For practise free motion quilting exercise, 2 pcs muslin or light cotton &
1 pc batt, all pieces approx. 10” x 10”

*Choice of specialty landscape fabrics (sky, foliage, water, trees, rocks and
grasses) for an individual art piece for each participant
*Backing
*Coloured tulle for snips
*Landscape tree fabrics for snips
*Fusible web for fussy cut details
*Surface embellishment fibres (roving, lint, yarns & drapery trims)
*Water soluble medium for making spider lace for tree leaves


Participants will learn techniques and perspective in 3d landscape, through hands on
demonstration, to create their own unique art piece as well as be encouraged to explore
and enjoy their own creativity.
